PowerPoint Macro for writing slide timing files during a presentation.

Powerpoint Macro for writing slide timing files during a presentation

This macro requires an event handling add-in for powerpoint.  It may be downloaded for free from this web site.

The macro may be downloaded here.

Instructions:
Install the event generator add-in by double clicking the executable

Create a presentation from scratch:
Launch PowerPoint and select tools>addins.
Click the Add New button and select the event generator addin, then click close
Select Tools -> Macros -> Visual basic editor
In the VB Editor window, select File>import then select the SlideTiming.bas module
Create your powerpoint presentation.  You must save the presentation for the macro to work.

Add to an existing presentation:
Open the presentation and select tools>addins.  Make sure the event generator addin is checked.
Select Tools -> Macros -> visual basic editor
In the vb Editor window, select file>import, then select the SlideTiming.bas module.
Save your presentation.

Using the macro:
To run the macro, just start your presentation.  When the presentation starts, you'll get one of two message boxes.  If you've never run the macro on your presentation before, you'll get a message box that says, "Event handler enabled, click ok to start the presentation".  If you have run the macro on your presentation before, you'll get a message box asking if you want to overwrite the existing timing file.

When you're ready to start your presentation, click ok.  The timer starts counting the second you click ok, so don't click it until you're ready to start the presentation.

When you're done with your presentation, there will be a text file (presentation name.txt) in the same folder with the presentation.   You need to copy your presentation to the hard drive before running it.  It will not run from a cd.  If you want to run it from a cd, you need to modify the macro.

The text file created is written to be used with Accordent's PresenterOne software.  You can just edit your project.prs file in notepad and paste in all the timing info.  You'll also need to change the number of events variable to reflect the number of slides in your presentation.

If you aren't using PresenterOne, you can use this program to convert the text file to a rmevents file, or a csv file.

RMBatch GUI for older versions of Real Producer (pre Helix).

RMgui  2.0.2

For use with RMBatch.exe included with Real Producer Plus®

Graphical User Interface for RMBatch® Version 2.0.2

Version 2.0 of the RMBatch GUI is now available for download.  Version 2.0 is more stable and easier to use than version 1.0, but I don't use all the features regularly, so there may be some problems with command line generation.

If you encounter any problems with command line generation, or other bugs, please email me and let me know what problem you were having so I can fix it.

Version History:

2.0.2:  Corrected a problem that would sometimes cause invalid window state values to be written to the registry.  This would cause the program to exit on launch with an 'overflow error'.

2.0.1:  Corrected a problem with command line generation for live streaming.  Quotes are now added around the server:port/filename portion.  Added a checkbox so you can select if you want to time a live streamed event or not.

2.0:  Inital 2.0 beta release

Known Bugs:

1/10/02 - 2.0.2  is supposed to delete rmbatch.disabled whenever you click to start encoding. Currently the program is not deleting this file.  If you abort encoding rmbatch.disabled is written to the directory you are encoding to and you will need to delete it manually. I'm working on correcting this problem and hope to have a fix available soon.

Download Now:
Download Version 2.0.2

Upgrades from 2.0.1 - extract the executable and replace the old version of rmgui.exe.
Download Version 2.0.1 Executable only (45kb zipped)

New Features:

Support for almost every command line switch for RMBatch.  /I /D /L /O /S /U /P /SC /X /T /A /V /F /Y /Z /TP /NF /RZ /IT /DI /VB /VL /LP /KF /OS /Q /N /B /H /C /R /K /AR /IN/ G /W /J

Unlimited presets so you can easily switch between your most common settings for file encoding, or servers.

Batch file building tool that allows you to automatically append any command line you generate to a batch file.

Countdown timer that shows you how much time is left if you're encoding from a live source.

Last settings saved on exit (including window position).

Automatically encode the date into your title by entering the title and "&date" into the title textbox.
Entering "CLPH 572 &date"  will result in "CLPH 572 mm/dd/yyyy" appearing as the title of your real media file.

Automatically encode the date into your filename by entering "&date.rm" at the end of your filename.
Entering "CLPH572_&date" will result in "CLPH572_mmddyyyy.rm" appearing as your filename.

Command line error detection.  RMgui will now prevent you from making certain command line errors that cause RMBatch to exit.

Overall improvements in code and program stability.  The alpha version of this program is already much better than the final version of the last.

System requirements:  If you're running Real Producer Plus®your system already meets any requirements for this software.  You may or may not need the Visual Basic 6 runtime library.  If it won't run on your machine, you can obtain vb6run.exe from microsoft.com.

Kramer VS-4216 RS-422 Routing switcher control software

This is some  very basic software I wrote for controlling Kramer routing switchers.  This software is specifically for the VS-4216 but will probably work for other Kramer switchers.  This software just does a few basic functions, but it meets my needs.  Source code is included, so if you update the software and would like me to post it, just email it to me as a zip file (with source code).
